民初北伐前後，孤兒婉君投靠姑媽維生。18歲的婉君和三位表兄弟伯健、仲康、叔豪，分別發展出刻骨銘心的愛怨情仇。本片由李行執導，改編自瓊瑤短篇小說集《六個夢》中的〈追尋〉，闡述民國初年，女性在傳統與自由解放的交界中，面對婚姻的內心掙扎。

這部作品成為1960年代第一波瓊瑤小說改編電影風潮的濫觴，唐寶雲「養鴨公主」的形象之外，再以「婉君表妹」深植人心，劇中童星巴戈、謝玲玲表現出色，飾演大哥的王戎更從此崛起影壇，而11歲的巴戈也以此片走紅，並於隔年參與好萊塢影片《聖保羅砲艇》演出，是這位影視界資深藝人的成名代表作。

This film is based on a short story by Chiung Yao whose film adaptations took the Chinese-speaking world by storm since the 1960s. The story is set in the 1920s, the first decade when the Republic of China was founded. A bitter love story between three brothers and their beautiful cousin, the film reveals the struggles of a woman facing modern liberation and stereotypes of traditional culture. It made the actress, Tang Pao-yun, be remembered not only as "Princess of Duckling" in Lee's other film Beautiful Duckling (1965), and propelled Wang Jung, the actor who played her eldest cousin, to stardom. The child actors, Ba Ge and Hsieh Ling-ling, also gave outstanding performances.

The screenings are in loving memory of the actor and TV host Ba Ge, who passed away on February 16, 2022.
