沒有男人的棠府住著三位不同世代但一樣懂人心的女性：棠夫人主持大局，在權貴間穿針引線，擔任政商界的「白手套」；個性如刺蝟般的大女兒棠寧為求母親肯定，勉力配合；乖巧的小女兒棠真靜靜觀察，唯母命是從。直到某天，棠家親密友人慘遭滅門事件爆發，三人各自被牽扯其中，一向以大局為重的棠夫人，為了守護一切，用盡心機，卻讓三人走向不同的命運……。

本片榮獲金馬獎最佳劇情片等多項大獎，今年辭世的國寶級說唱藝術家楊秀卿，在片中扮演彈琴唸唱、提供警世口白的說書人，短短幾幕的演出如畫龍點睛般，為這部曲折離奇的黑色寓言，增添令人低迴不已的民間傳奇感。

The film centers on Madame Tang, a powerful "fixer" who colludes and mediates between politicians and private businesses in exchange for financial or political favors. However, when a land development case does not go according to plan and turns into a scandal, she finds herself and her beautiful daughters tested by dangerous outside forces and a series of gruesome murders…. The screening is in memory of ballad singer Yang Hsiu-ching, who passed away on June 17, 2022. In the film, she plays the narrator of the story in the form of traditional Taiwanese ballads, leaving indelible performances that inject a satirical but poignant touch.
