小型回顧展《開箱 No.2》（UNPACKED No.2）是印尼藝術家麥拉蒂．蘇若道默（Melati Suryodarmo）以嶄新的裝置作品與一系列講演式展演（lecture-performance），將1990年代末到2010年代初、近二十年的創作，再製、融合，組件出當下詮釋的一件作品。她從德國家中寄來的行李箱中，一件一件取出過去行為藝術表演裡曾使用過的物件、道具及服裝，展示物品如何見證與其共存的人們。

 

在重新審視並梳理過去作品的同時，物件隨著講述展開被賦予截然不同的意義：「開箱」除了代表伴她多年的表演行囊一一卸下，也指向藝術創作本身的流動與不穩定性，以及藝術家在此之間持續經歷的重構與裂解的體驗。在不同時空背景下與物件互動，它們逐漸脫離原本的意義和用途，隨著口說講演的改變，呈現出愛、妄想、悲劇、絕望乃至人的處境之間複雜的調和。

 

打包與卸下，隱喻人們在世道無常的世界裡不斷抵達、離開、移動及轉移的境況。蘇若道默意圖透過藝術作品觸摸身體與其環境之間流動的邊界，並希望在不使用敘事結構的情況下創造出高度濃縮的強度。作品突破傳統藝術形式的界線，觸及個體和社會的核心問題，更從對身體和環境的探索，引發觀眾對自身與世界的思考，敏感、銳利，飽含情感。

 

【團隊介紹】

印尼｜麥拉蒂．蘇若道默（Melati Suryodarmo）

出身藝術世家，畢業於德國布倫瑞克造型藝術學院，由瑪莉娜．阿布拉莫維奇和古川杏親授，獲得行為藝術大師研究學位（Meisterschüler，等同碩士學位），現工作和生活於印尼蘇臘卡爾塔。

 

蘇若道默的作品以縝密、講求身體強度的持續性表演著稱，並結合爪哇卡魯格蘭舞、太極拳、日本舞踏，以及蘇瑪拉冥想。透過持續數小時對身體要求極高的重複動作，強迫觀眾面對情緒、不斷重複的痛苦來引發反思；將周圍環境視為當下的真實存在，並考慮其歷史的軌跡。試圖理解那些無聲的語言，以打開感知的大門，並關注身體和它所處文化環境之間的關係。她針對特定主題和現象的觀察（如：作為一名印尼婦女在德國的移民經歷和精神上的體驗）轉化為表演形式和姿態，以攝影、舞蹈、影片和現場表演等方式，銘記與呈現這些概念。

 

蘇若道默的重要展覽包括：《在我們的血液里流淌著墨水和火焰》（2022）；《我是我房屋中的鬼魂》（2022）；《為什麽讓雞跑？》（2020-2021）；《逃離路線》(2020)；《我們並非獨自做夢》（2020）；《當代世界》（2019）；《從順風到逆風再回來》（2019）；《太陽雨》（2017）；第八屆亞太三年展（2015）；第五屆廣州三年展（2015）。

 

她自2007年起每年在印尼蘇臘卡爾塔舉辦行為實驗室與行為藝術節——不明領土；2012年成立實驗空間「Plesungan工作室」；2017年出任第十七屆雅加達雙年展藝術總監。曾入圍2014年亞太釀酒基金會特出藝術獎，並在2022年榮獲博尼範登當代藝術獎。

UNPACKED No.2 is one of Melati's performance lecture series that delves into a poetic exploration of personal experiences and reflections. Through revealed objects, relics, and fragments from her previous works, Suryodarmo imbues them with new layers of understanding and significance. The works are including Visible Undone Behavior (2005), Feather Fell from Nowhere (2011), The Seed (2008) and The Dog Bark at the Back Yards, the Eagle Flew after the Dark, and I … (2009). The presence of these objects and their incorporation into the artist's storytelling allows the performance space to evolve and become an integral part of the overall experience. The space serves as a canvas for exploring themes such as delusion, tragedy, and the complexities of the human condition.

 

Suryodarmo believes that objects bear witness to the individuals who coexist with them, and they hold the power to convey meaning, history and emotion. As she weaves her past performances in an intimate manner, these objects function as personal anecdotes, prompting profound and visceral encounters with her artistic oeuvre and somatic practice. The immersive nature of the performance lectures, combined with the personal and intimate display of objects, establishes a profound connection between the artist, the artwork, and the viewers. Through this reconciliation of various perspectives, the artist invites the audience to engage with their own interpretations and reflections.  

 

Indonesia｜Melati Suryodarmo

Born 1969 in Solo, Indonesia, Melati Suryodarmo resides in Surakarta. Her art, influenced by Butoh, dance, and history, stems from researching body movements and their connections to the self and the world. Photography, choreography, videos, and live performances encapsulate her work.

 

Suryodarmo delves into psychological and physical agitations, fostering lasting individual change from self or external influences. Her belief in growth through bodily action echoes her meditation practice. She regards the body as the home for memories and self, rather than the individual. Compiling, conceptualizing, and translating presence factors in her works, she blurs the body-environment boundary, akin to poets crafting verse.

 

Suryodarmo holds a fine art degree and MFA in performance art from Braunschweig University in Germany. Exhibiting globally, she has earned acclaim at renowned venues and secured the 2021 Bonnefanten Award. In 2012, she founded "Studio Plesungan," an experimental performance art hub. She directed the Jakarta Biennale 2017 and has been appointed as the Artistic Director of the Indonesia Festival of Arts and Culture for 2022 and 2024. dance-making.
