民國初期、北伐前後，孤兒婉君投靠姑媽一家人，和三位表兄弟伯健、仲康、叔豪，分別發展出刻骨銘心的愛怨情仇。由李行執導，改編自瓊瑤短篇小說集《六個夢》中的〈追尋〉，影片闡述民國初年，女性在傳統與自由解放的交界中，面對婚姻的內心掙扎。

本片為首部由瓊瑤原著小說改編之電影，開啟1960年代第一波瓊瑤小說改編電影風潮，唐寶雲繼「養鴨公主」的形象之後，再以「婉君表妹」深植人心外，劇中童星皆為一時之選；飾演童年婉君的謝玲玲自千人海選中脫穎而出，獲得最佳童星獎項、飾演大哥的王戎從此崛起影壇，影視界資深藝人巴戈後續更參演首部在台製作之好萊塢影片《聖保羅砲艇》。

This film is adapted from a short story by Qiong Yao, set in the 1920s, the first decade after the Republic was founded. It tells a tragic love story between three brothers and their beautiful cousin. It depicts a woman's struggle between modern liberation and traditional expectations. The role made Tang Pao-yun memorable not only as the "Princess of Duckling." Child actors Pa Ke and Tse Ling-ling deliver standout performances, while Wang Jong makes his acting debut as the heroine's eldest cousin.
